OTTAWA -- Federal Auditor General Karen Hogan says many living spaces used by Canadian Armed Forces members across three bases are in "poor physical condition" and ripe for overcrowding.

In a separate report, Hogan warns the military is not recruiting and training enough members to meet its operational needs, and National Defence does not always know why prospective recruits abandon their applications.
