Today in Canada’s Political History: Happy Birthday, Yves-François Blanchet

I know that folks of all parties will join us at Art’s History in sending out birthday greetings to the leader of the Bloc, Yves-François Blanchet, who was born in Drummondville, Quebec, in 1965.  The BQ leader turns 57 today. A former Quebec MNA and cabinet minister, Blanchet was first elected to the Commons in 2019 after being acclaimed leader of the Bloc earlier that year. Under his leadership, the party regained official party status in the House by electing 32 members. He was easily re-elected to the House in last year’s general election with his party’s standing remaining at 32 seats. Joyeux anniversaire, M. Blanchet! caption id="attachment_611149" align="alignleft" width="275" Yves-François Blanchet/caption Arthur Milnes is an accomplished public historian and award-winning journalist.  He was research assistant on The Rt.
