Future Prime Minister Brian Mulroney married Mila Pivnički on this date in 1973 in Montreal. Today is their 49
th wedding anniversary, a remarkable milestone in modern times. The couple would go on to have four children and theirs remains a close-knit and loving family. Mrs. Mulroney proved to be one of her husband’s greatest political assets and she played key roles in Mr. Mulroney’s rise to leading the federal Progressive Conservatives and his nine years as Prime Minister of Canada.
As Mr. Mulroney’s research assistant on his 2007 Memoirs, it was my great privilege to get to know this wonderful couple and it is therefore a very real personal pleasure to sent out anniversary greetings to them today.
