Today in Canada’s Political History: Happy birthday Peter Mansbridge!

It is a great personal and professional pleasure to send out birthday greetings to a legendary Canadian broadcast journalist.

Peter Mansbridge, the former anchor of CBC’s The National, turns 75 today. Political junkies recall fondly the many, many hours of coverage he devoted to covering leadership conventions, his year-enders with the Prime Minister of the day, and, Mansbridge’ s coverage of Royal and Papal visits, historic events and anniversaries and so much more. He retired on July 1, 2017 but continues to write books and make guest appearances on various media. More importantly for all Manitobans, he remains the greatest fan there is of his beloved Winnipeg Jets.

Happy birthday Peter! Arthur Milnes is an accomplished public historian and award-winning journalist.  He was research assistant on The Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney’s best-selling Memoirs and also served as a speechwriter to then-Prime Minister Stephen Harper and as a Fellow of the Queen’s Centre for the Study of Democracy under the leadership of Tom Axworthy.  A resident of Kingston, Ontario, Milnes serves as the in-house historian at the 175 year-old Frontenac Club Hotel.
