Today in Canada's Political History - January 10, 1815: Happy birthday Sir John A. Macdonald?

  • National Newswatch

Canada’s greatest Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald (equaled only by Sir Wilfrid Laurier) celebrated his birthday throughout his life on January 11. But there is also evidence that he was in fact born on January 10, 1815, with his birth being registered in Glasgow, Scotland, his birthplace, the next day. Regardless of the confusion, it is a great pleasure to send out birthday greetings to the Father of Confederation up there in the great House of Commons in the sky as he celebrates his 209th birthday this week. Happy birthday Sir John A.!
