It was a big day in both musical and political history on this date in 1971 with the new song, Do the Fuddle Duddle, landing on the Canadian music charts. Songwriters Gary Alles and Jack Bush wrote the piece after then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau allegedly told Tory MP Lincoln Alexander to “fuck off” in the House of Commons. When asked about the incident later Trudeau famously denied that he used such a phrase. He said that he had merely used the phrase “fuddle duddle” in his exchange with Alexander.
And so “fuddle duddle” entered the Canadian dictionary. You can listen to the song at the following link. And, if you don’t like it, you can simply “fuddle duddle.”
