Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, met with his British counterpart on this date in 2022 at a Royal Air Force base in the UK. According to Trudeau’s press office, “The leaders recognized the heroic efforts and sacrifices of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and people, and denounced in particular Russia’s attacks against Ukrainian civilians.”
The two PMs also continued their talks about negotiations between the two nations aimed at achieving a bilateral free trade agreement. The Canadian readout from their talks stated that the prime ministers “discussed next steps for the modernization of the free trade agreement between Canada and the United Kingdom and dedicated additional attention to securing reliable supply chains, especially for energy and critical minerals.”
