Today in Canada's Political History - April 26, 1988: Prime Minister Brian Mulroney arrives in Washington

Canada’s 18th Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, started a trip to Washington on this date in 1988. He was there to hold talks with outgoing President Ronald Reagan and to cement ties with the latter’s likely successor, Vice President George H.W. Bush. Most importantly, Mulroney became only the second Canadian Prime Minister to address the U.S. Congress. You can watch Mulroney’s historic address at this link.
