  • National Newswatch

Dwight David Eisenhower, the 20th century American President the Canadian people greatly admired, was in Ottawa on this date in 1958. He was there for talks with Prime Minister John Diefenbaker and other senior officials and cabinet ministers. The highlight of his visit was, of course, his address to Canada’s Parliament. This was the second time Ike had addressed Canadian MPs and Senators.
