Former Prime Minister John Diefenbaker was in dowwtown Toronto on this date in 1976 happily signing copies of his memoirs, One Canada, for legions of fans. The Toronto Star reported that approximately 400 people waited in line at the city’s flagship Simpson’s store for a chance to see and speak briefly to Canada’s 13th Prime Minister.
