Today in Canada's Political History - December 11, 1993: Happy anniversary Stephen and Laureen Harper!

  • National Newswatch

The man who would later become the nation’s 22nd Prime Minister was married in Calgary on this date in 1993. Stephen J. Harper, who had been elected for the first time as a MP only a few weeks before, married Laureen Teskey, the owner-operator of a successful graphic design company. They had met while attending a Reform party meeting. They went on to have two children, Ben and Rachel, and returned to their home province of Alberta when Mr. Harper’s service as PM ended in 2015. Happy anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Harper!
