  • National Newswatch

One of the most important federal Liberals of his generation is celebrating a milestone birthday today. John Manley, who served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance under Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, is turning 75. Born in Ottawa, Manley clerked under Chief Justice Bora Laskin of the Supreme Court of Canada before entering politics as a Liberal MP in 1988. When Chrétien led the party to power in 1993, Manley became one of the anchors of the 20th Prime Minister’s cabinets. Happy birthday John Manley!
