MONTREAL -- The Liberal leadership debate is underway, with U.S. President Donald Trump's trade threats once again topping the agenda.

It's the second debate in as many days and the last one for the campaign.

The four candidates largely agreed with each other across a wide range of issues in Monday night's French-language debate.

That has many wondering if any of the candidates trailing in the race will take on front-runner Mark Carney.

Frank Baylis, Chrystia Freeland, Karina Gould and Carney all shook hands shortly before the debate began.

Liberal party members can begin casting advance votes for their preferred candidates as early as Wednesday.
