To add to our interesting content about the federal election campaign, Spark and Northstar Public Affairs recruited a unique panel of 91 people who have worked in political campaigns in Canada. Each week, we’ll survey them online to see what they think is happening. This is our first synopsis, based on a survey completed March 26-27:
- Half (50%) of our Watchers have been involved with Conservative campaigns, and about the same proportion (48%) have been involved in Liberal campaigns. More (52%) want to see a Liberal win, than a Conservatives win (40%).
- Two thirds (66%) think the Liberals will win, including 29% who see a majority.
- Most think the Liberals have the most momentum (94%), the best candidates (76%), the most effective leader (69%) the most impactful message (66%) and the best ads (58%). Most think the Conservatives have been having the best events (75%).
- Among those who have been involved in Conservative Party campaigns, opinion is more mixed, but a sizeable proportion of the Conservative watchers see the Liberals doing well.
- Equal sized majorities think Mark Carney and Pierre Poilievre are campaigning well. Two thirds think Jagmeet Singh is not campaigning well.
