The second wave of our survey of campaign watchers has been completed. A total of 94 people shared their views this week. Again, roughly half the sample had campaign experience with the Liberals (50%), and with Conservatives (49%).
- 55% are hoping for a Liberal win, compared to 52% in our first wave. This difference probably simply reflects a slight difference in the sample from the first wave.
- Three out of four (77%) believe the Liberals will win the election, up 11 points from last week (66%). Over one in three (37%) think the Liberals will win a majority, up from 29% last week.
- Among those who want the Conservatives to win, only 57% believe that will be the outcome, down from 72% last week. Among those who want the Liberals to win, 98% believe that will happen, up from 92% last week.
- Strong majorities believe the Liberals have the most momentum (94%), the best candidates (83%) the most effective leader (74%) the most impactful message (67%) the best ads (65%). A large majority believe the Conservatives are having the best events. The CPC advantage on events widened over last week, the Liberals advantage on candidates, leader and ads also widened.
