Today in Canada's Political History - April 24, 1983: Ed Schreyer plants a tree at Rideau Hall!

His Excellency Ed Schreyer, Governor General of Canada, planted a ceremonial tree on the grounds of Rideau Hall on this date in 1983. His tree, a Sugar Maple, is amongst approximately 150 other ones planted by distinguished Canadians, Governors Generals and visiting dignitaries. King Charles, for example, has planted four trees at Rideau Hall during his various visits to Canada over the decades as Prince of Wales.
