Today in Canada's Political History - May 4, 1973: birth of David Cochrane of Power and Politics

  • National Newswatch

One of the most important political journalists of his generation is celebrating his birthday today. David Cochrane, the widely respected host of CBC’s Power and Politics, was born on this date in 1973 in Newfoundland.

He covered politics in his home province for 20 years before joining the Parliamentary Press Gallery in 2016. He developed a pan-Canadian audience, in particular, after the senior role he played in his network’s coverage of the 2019 and 2021 federal election campaigns. As host of Power and Politics today, Cochrane is a model of fairness and professionalism.

Happy birthday from Art’s History Mr. Cochrane!
