Today in Canada's Political History: December 20, 2024, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh calls for Justin Trudeau’s resignation

  • National Newswatch

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s political future was once again in jeopardy on this date in 2024. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, whose party had been propping up the government during a minority Parliament, released an open letter to Canadians announcing his decision. “Justin Trudeau failed in the biggest job a Prime Minister has: to work for people, not the powerful,” he said on X in releasing his letter. “The NDP will vote to bring this government down, and give Canadians a chance to vote for a government who will work for them.”
