FREDERICTON -- New Brunswick's government has tabled a pair of new bills it says will stimulate economic growth and improve patient safety.
The Liberals say Bill 39 proposes increasing the tax credit rate for corporate investors in eligible small businesses to 25 per cent, a 10-per-cent increase.
They say that would spur economic growth by increasing investment in domestic small businesses.
Bill 40, the Liberals say, is meant to improve how patient safety incidents are shared across the health-care system.
New Brunswick's Opposition leader says the new bills aren't substantive.
Progressive Conservative leader Glen Savoie says the government's more focused on "housekeeping" as opposed to improving peoples lives.
Savoie told reporters at the legislature Tuesday that the Liberals want to "pop up a portfolio to make it look like they're doing a lot of work in the house."
"New Brunswickers should be concerned they're not seeing an improvement in their lives because of the work of this government," he said.
