Anyone alive at the time has their own memories of 9/11. I was in Kingston as a reporter on the Whig-Standard and will never forget that terrible day. What is forever frozen in my mind is the fact that hundreds of Kingston and area residents started to gather, even though no one had directed them to, at Kingston General Hospital, in order to donate blood in case our American friends were in need. Each reader of Art’s History who was alive then will have their own memories at top of mind today. Lest We Forget.
Arthur Milnes is an accomplished public historian and award-winning journalist. He was research assistant on The Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney’s best-selling Memoirs and also served as a speechwriter to then-Prime Minister Stephen Harper and as a Fellow of the Queen’s Centre for the Study of Democracy under the leadership of Tom Axworthy. A resident of Kingston, Ontario, Milnes serves as the in-house historian at the 175 year-old Frontenac Club Hotel.
