Prime Minister Brian Mulroney was joined by future PM Jean Chrétien and former PM Pierre Trudeau in paying tribute to Lester B. Pearson on this date in 1990. All three were there as Mr. Pearson’s statue on Parliament Hill was dedicated.
I’d also like to pause today to send birthday wishes out to former Senator Lowell Murray as he celebrates his milestone 90th birthday. One of the most important members of the Red Chamber who spent a lifetime at the heart of Canada’s Progressive Conservative movement, Murray is someone I owe a great deal as he has taken time over the years to assist me with countless historical projects. Happy 90th from Sir John A.’s town, Senator Murray!
