WINNIPEG -- Scott Gillingham has been re-elected as the mayor of Winnipeg in Wednesday's slate of municipal elections across Manitoba.
Unofficial results show Gillingham received 80,206 votes to send him to a second term, while former legislature member and city councillor Kevin Klein drew 41,703 votes.
Software developer Noah Redden came in third place with 39,962 votes, and funeral home director Mike Vogiatzakis received 19,463.
Supporters cheered as Gillingham claimed victory late Wednesday, telling a watch party that he's committed to finding solutions to issues plaguing the city, such as housing, public safety and transit.
Klein, in a concession speech, congratulated Gillingham and said he would hold a news conference Friday to wrap up his campaign and announce next steps.
Almost all other Manitoba communities held elections Wednesday, except for the resort areas of Winnipeg Beach, Dunnottar and Victoria Beach, which had votes in July.
