It was a good day to be a federal Liberal on this date in 1993. Jean Chrétien was officially sworn-as the nation’s 20th Prime Minister. He had arrived in Canada’s highest political office after serving in the cabinets of Prime Ministers Lester B. Pearson and Pierre Trudeau. Chrétien would go on to serve a decade as Prime Minister and retire in 2003.
