When it comes to building cars, Canada does not take the back seat
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says Canada must accept “second place” in the auto industry — that car assembly will happen in America and there’s “nothing Canada can do about it.” It’s a striking claim, but it’s wrong — economically, historically and strategically. There is no such thing as an “American car” without Canada.
